Clean Cut Kid are quietly making a habit of releasing intensely infectious pop-rock. The ear-worm extraordinaire "Vitamin C" was followed by the impossible catchy "Runaway" and "Pick Me Up", but the Liverpool four - husband and wife Mike and Evelyn Halls, Saul Godman and Ross Higginson - use b-sides to cleverly showcase a subtler side to their songwriting. "In Your Eyes", available as part of a limited edition Record Store Day 7", beautifully swoons in a moment of elegant respite from their usual, brilliantly restless work. Halls' unmistakable tone cries out above gently building backing with twitching six-string and rattling percussion moving the action forward. A sold out headline show at London's iconic 100 Club feels fitting for a proper band with a very bright future ahead. -G.O'B
